In 1981, at the ripe old age of 18, I became the owner of the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird shown below. At the time, it was a stock 26,000 mile Alpine White 440 four barrel automatic Superbird. In 1991, after owning the car for ten years, I decided to convert the car into a functioning replica of the old Sox & Martin C/MP Superbird. Running an essentially stock 440 with a few bolt-on goodies, the car ran a best of 12.86 @ 108.5 MPH. The ol' Bird is in getting a makeover which includes a fully adjustable four-link coilover rear suspension, subframe connectors, an eight point roll cage and an all-aliminum block and heads Indy Cylinder Head and Koffel's Place 451 inch Wedge. The car is currently raced by up and coming drag racing superstar Brad Amerine from South Bloomingville, Ohio.

FEATURE CARS

Our first two feature cars belong to Ruth and Chester Zoph. Some of you may remember the Zoph's two '70 Road Runner convertibles, '70 Coronet 500 convertible and '74 Charger that we featured a few months back. Well feast your eyes on the Zoph's two nice weather daily-driver "His & Hers" Mopars! Chester's (His) is a beautiful 2006 Dodge Charger R/T 5.7 Hemi in Cool Vanilla with a dealer-installed Daytona stripe and spoiler package. Dodge never offered the Daytona in Cool Vanilla but by the looks of this car, they should have! Ruth's (Hers) is the newest addition to the Zoph's stable. It's a gorgerous 2009 Dodge Challenger in Tor Red with the 3.5 liter V-6. This car also has a dealer-installed stripe and spoiler package. Another big thanks to the Zophs for sharing their ever-growing stable of Mopars with us!

Our next feature car is Gary Pietraniec's 1969 Road Runner. Gary found this car just four blocks from his home. Gary was talking with a co-worker about musclecars one day and the co-worker said that he had a 1969 Road Runner coupe up on jackstands in his garage for the last 12 years. Gary asked if the car was for sale and the co-worker replied that he wasn't sure if he wanted to sell the car and that he would let Gary know. About two weeks later, the co-worker said that he would sell the car. Gary went to take a look at the car and he found a rust-free 1969 Road Runner coupe that had been driven to Michigan from Arizona in 1996 by Gary's co-worker's father. The car was then given to his son (Gary's co-worker), who within two months, blew the clutch. The car was taken apart and ready to fix when a new wife, children and college came into the picture. The Road Runner sat on those jackstands until Gary loaded it up and transported it four blocks to it's new home. The car is a genuine RM21 Road Runner coupe and a real N96 Air Grabber car. It's a rust-free Arizona car with all original body panels and floor pans and has never been hit. It has 3-speed wipers, factory AM/FM radio, wood wheel, A-833 manual transmission, drip rail moldings, bench seat interior and is B5 Blue. The car now has a 440 engine with Holley 780 carb. When Gary got the car, it came with a Six Pack set-up which Gary recently removed for the reliability of the four-barrel set-up. Looks like we may need to teach Gary about properly dialed-in Six Pack induction systems! The car also has it's original fender tag and the broadcast sheet was found under the rear seat. The interior was done in a fuzzy 1970's theme, including the seats, dash pad and headliner. Future plans for the car call for redline tires and dog-dish hubcaps. Looks like Gary's got himself a really cool beeper!

Our next feature car is Bill Malett's sweet 1966 Plymouth Valiant V-100 station wagon! This is a 51,000 original mile Slant Six car with three-speed manual transmission and ice cold factory air conditioning! It's also a radio delete car and has factory tinted glass all the way around. The car is still all original paint! The engine's been hopped up a bit and has 10.5:1 compression, has been bored, .060" over, features a ton of porting and polishing and is running a four-barrel intake and carb! This is a really cool and rare A-Body wagon that's an awesome cruiser!

Our next feature car is Greg Geffert's beautiful silver 1968 Road Runner. Greg's ride is sporting a fresh rotisserie restoration and is powered by a 480 horsepower 383 that's backed by a 4-speed manual trans and a 3.91 geared 8 3/4 Sure Grip. The 383 features ported and polished heads, match-ported intake and hi-po exhaust manifolds. The car also has power steering and brakes, Hemi suspension, redline tires and Magnum 500 wheels. What a sweet beeper!
